Wedding tradition that consists of showering bride and groom with rose petals hung in a bag from the altar?

I saw on a movie based in the Victorian era this couple get married and when they were pronounced husband and wife, somebody stepped forward and pulled this rope hanging from a bag that was attached to the altar and rose petals came showering out. What is this called and where could I get one?
