Does it sound like I would make a good police officer?

With what you have said, I would say no. Being a police officer is a dedication and a different life. If you are afraid now, how is it going to be when you are in a situation that warrants you shooting someone to save a life? There is no time for you to think it through. You have to react now and do what you are trained to do. There are allot of nasty things out there that require you to maintain composure and be on the forefront. You have to think about things other than yourself. Your brothers and sisters rely on you as well as the public to insure their safety and that they are going to go home at the end of the shift. My best advice is to go on as many ride-a-longs as possible and go from there. Most people don't care if your gay. Big deal. That's not what's important. There is allot more to it than just wanting to help people.
